One weekend a month we will be sharing call with our colleague Dr. Nadim Hawa, who is also a member of the Capital Women’s Care organization. He has been at Loudoun Hospital for several years, and has been a great assistant to our doctors in the operating room, where he has additional expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques. As Dr. Gillian Jacob has decided to transition away from obstetrics over the next several months to gynecology-only practice, it seemed like a perfect choice to ask Dr. Hawa to help us out. If you would like more information about him, please click here: http://www.cwcare.net/profile-provider/288. For those who would like to meet with him prior to a potential on-call delivery, let us know and we can make those arrangements.
We were so sad to have had to bid adieu to both our midwives Mary and Melissa this month. Mary was moving to NY to be closer to family and Melissa reluctantly changed jobs to be closer to her family in Woodbridge. We’re so grateful for the time we had with her even though it was a sacrifice to drive all the way to Loudoun most days. Unfortunately due to financial challenges presented in this time of Covid, we cannot yet reconstitute our midwifery program the way we would want to. Hopefully in teh next year or two, that will change. Meanwhile if you are interested in unmedicated birth, please be aware that there is still the very real opportunity for that in our new TBI. Some women choose to contract with doulas to recreate that bedside support system that was part of what was offered by the midwives previsouly. Of course, our RNs at TBI are also very excellent sources of support at all times!
